What is All Region Band & Orchestra?
All Region Band is an audition process that involves hundreds of students in all of Northside and beyond. Jefferson band students have already been working on skills needed for Region Band scales and music since last year! The work will culminate in a clinic and concert for Region Full Orchestra and for Region Band. The clinic and concert events showcase the best students in our region and special guest clinicians are invited in to work with the students for a final concert. The Region Band experience offers students a unique opportunity to play under renown conductors and composers while having a great time with their friends growing musically and making memories.
The process begins with students coming to summer band in August, then sectionals each week to work on and get assistance with their major scales, plus chromatic and two etudes (or studies) specifically for their instrument. ALL students are expected to attend sectionals as it is mandatory and for a grade. Weekly test scores also help directors determine if a student should continue in the Region Band Process.
ALL Honor Band students are expected to attend and a majority of Symphonic Band students will attend the Region Audition Round 1 Clinic, Region Audition Round 2, and the "Final Round" Region Band Auditions (unless directors determine otherwise).
Auditions will determine whether a student becomes a member of the All Region Band and/or Orchestra.
All students participating in this All Region Audition process must be passing (70 or higher) in ALL classes for the first grading period. If you have questions about your students eligibility please contact a director.
It is a great honor to “make it” into the All Region Band. We have added to the number of Jefferson Middle School students who make it into the All Region Band and Orchestra each year and we hope to increase that number this year to continue the excellence!
